This Sanskrit term was
used by H P Blavatsky to describe the bridge linking the higher and lower minds
which in Theosophy are referred to as the Higher Manas (spiritual development)
and Lower Manas (concrete and rational thought)
This concept is
represented by Jacob’s Ladder in the Christian Bible.
In the Voice of the
Silence, H P Blavatsky calls it
“that
path which lies between thy spirit and thyself”
