Jacob’s Ladder

The Antahkarana

Posted 14/2/07

This Sanskrit term was used by H P Blavatsky to describe the bridge linking the higher and lower minds which in Theosophy are referred to as the Higher Manas (spiritual development) and Lower Manas (concrete and rational thought)

This concept is represented by Jacob’s Ladder in the Christian Bible.

In the Voice of the Silence, H P Blavatsky calls it

that path which lies between thy spirit and thyself”

Origins:- Sanskrit

Antar – between

Karana – the acting

Sometimes appears as Antaskarana
